In theory I might like this a lot - good anti-covers can be a lot of fun (as long as they're not done over-smugly, Zappa-style, and this isn't). I mean, I really dig "Rock around the Clock" by Telex, and even find Do Ya Think I'm Sexy by The Hybrid Kids quite funny, even though it's not, really.

I think this one loses out in the detailing. Obviously meant to be negatively parodic (rather than, like with Senor Coconut, a semi-serious tribute) it would have benefitted greatly from being done a bit more straight-faced. As it is, it's a bit too full of kooky ideas that were probably funny in the studio, but fall flat here. You can even hear the band laughing at themselves in the background.

I really like The Boys are Back in Town, and theoretically I think this could have been good. I spent a lot of time a bit stoned at university listening to dicey easy listening, much of which included covers.

This just isn't quite a good enough version. I think they should have changed more, slowed it down, messed with the structure to make it fit with their style and they should have played it with a bit more love of the original rather than taking the piss out of it. But maybe I'm just saying that because I love the original song.

It lacks soul.

I could have sworn this was the Scabby track. This scares me because it means we have more than one CG regular into truly titanic levels of cheesiness.
It makes me want to shout the word "WANKER!" with great gusto and venom.

I don't think this really deserves any detailed analysis. It's just cheese-lite. I've got a picture in my head of a local amateur band playing at a beach-side bar somewhere in the Med for a bar full of drunk and red-raw British and American tourists. It's harmless enough, although for the second track running by the end of the song the vocals have started to grate.

This is hell. A crap cheesy cover with a fucking annoying overdone accent of what is in itself a fine original. I honestly don't see why anyone would wish this upon their own ears.

The kind of thing which is more amusing in theory than in practice. Smug, self-satisfied and completely undeserving of repeat listening.
